Six things that move a flooring quote
The subfloor
Priming, screeding or boarding an uneven floor is often the biggest variable, and the step that makes a hard floor last.
Stairs and landings
Stairs take far longer per square metre than a room. Winders and spindles take longer again.
Doorways and thresholds
Every doorway needs a neat bar or transition. A hallway with six doors costs more to finish than a bedroom with one.
Uplift and disposal
Lifting and taking away old carpet, underlay and grippers, or glued-down vinyl.
Furniture
Moving furniture as we go takes time, and it is listed so you can choose.
The product itself
A value twist pile and a premium wool carpet can differ several times over per square metre.

Flooring prices, explained
Why do you give ranges instead of fixed prices?
Because an honest price depends on the room. Two rooms the same size can differ a lot depending on the subfloor, the number of doorways, whether there are stairs and which product you pick. A range gives you the ballpark; the free measure gives you the real figure.
What is included in a supplied and fitted price?
Usually the flooring, underlay where it is needed, grippers, door bars and fitting. Uplift and disposal of the old floor, subfloor preparation and moving furniture are listed separately so you can see exactly what you are paying for.
Is it cheaper to buy flooring supply only?
It can be, and we are happy to sell supply only. Just remember that if the wrong amount is ordered or the floor underneath needs work, that becomes your problem rather than ours.
Are stairs priced differently?
Yes. Stairs take much longer per square metre than a room, and winders take longer again, so they are priced separately and shown clearly in the quote.
What pushes a quote towards the top of the range?
Usually subfloor preparation such as priming and screeding, lots of doorways and thresholds, stairs, awkward access or a premium product. All of it is visible at the measure, so none of it should be a surprise.
